Wendell Odom, CCIE No. 1624 (Emeritus), has been in the networking industry since 1981. He has worked as a network engineer, consultant, systems engineer, instructor, and course developer; he currently works writing and creating certification study tools. This book is his 27th edition of some product for Pearson, and he is the author of all editions of the CCNA R&S and CCENT Cert Guides from Cisco Press. He has written books about topics from networking basics, certification guides throughout the years for CCENT, CCNA R&S, CCNA DC, CCNP ROUTE, CCNP QoS, and CCIE R&S. CCENT/CCNA ICND1 100-105 Official Cert GuideI am prepping my 100-105 exam and I am about half way through this long but carefully written book. For a visual type like myself, the structured choices author and his team made serves this book's purpose in a meaningful and efficient way.Why 4 stars?Well, from my standpoint: the abundance of various figures, examples and tables still lack that one final touch to make the subject matter more clear and easier to understand, especially in more challenging parts. Sincerely, I do not think it is a long stretch to make it so. Adding one more or maybe two graphic elements to emphasize key points in explanations of concepts, using numerical markers in examples (especially results of show commands) to more thoroughly explain how to use various tools and commands.Indeed, the book is well written, but at times it seems that same topic is covered from different angles and I have to re-read to get to the core. No, I don't mind using my brain and deduction. But it does test my nerves in a thousand pages book. A clever comparison might save some paper and time.I liked a lot:For the most part very clear and to the point content.Additional DVD content, chapter reviews and practices - which are incredibly useful.Discount for Pearson Network Simulator, seriously considering getting it.I didn't like:You have to search around web to get Test Prep working.You have to manually find and open some of the DVD files, browser app links do not work properly.Network Simulator Lite, if it would be any lighter - you could use it instead of hot air in balloons.In some places, too many words with too little result.If You are studying by yourself for 100-105 exam, with just basic knowledge of networking (like me), I strongly recommend getting this book, with the DVD extras. I would also recommend it for people with very little to no knowledge (find and use preview to decide for yourself).
Excellent book. Used it as a main resource to study for the exam and I can only recommend it further.Just make sure that you do not mind reading ~700 pages ; )

Ausgerechnet die erste Version vom CCNA 100-105 ICND1 ist nicht im Kindel erhältlich.das ist Chabis weil nur dieser Kurs von Cisco durchgeführt wird. Der zweite teil des neuen V3 Kurs ist schon drin im Kindel 200-105 ICND2.
